Mom’s night out is about letting your hair down.
It’s finally our time to relax and laugh it up with our best friends. We really need this time to unwind and recharge; you know, get rid of the burnout. That is precisely the reason why I made this summer style guide easy and carefree. I like simple fashions that avoid complication. Classic clothing styles that flatter universally, accessories that are versatile enough to transition for everyday use, and makeup that flatters in only a few steps. Because face it, who wants to deal with all that mess? You’re ready to get out and go.
This is how the time breaks down. Thanks to JORD Wood Watches for keeping us on time.

Style starts at the heart.
It’s all about being confident in yourself.
Trust me, I get it. When I’m not freelancing and checking in with clients, I’m in yoga pants living that mom life. My hair is a mess. I, more than likely, have wrinkles on my shirt. It’s the main reason I have a lot of stuff delivered… because when I mom, I totally mom hard. But that’s not to say that all moms are sloppy (such as me on an off day); nor is it to say we can’t spruce ourselves up. It’s just the recognition that style starts at the heart and we’ve got to let it shine from time to time.
Get ready with me.
First of all, take a shower. My summer style guide starts with a fresh smelling body and washed hair. I tend to like sulfate-free shampoos and silicone-free conditioners.
Next, how you dry your hair for your mom’s night out is equally important. Please avoid heat damage; i.e. flat irons, curling rods, and hair dryers. It’s summer! Time to let our natural textures out and embrace the curl. Never use a towel to dry your hair. Also, don’t rough it up by squeezing the water out too hard. Instead, coat it with a very small amount of coconut oil mixed with alcohol-free styling gel. Then use a clean t-shirt to gently remove some moisture. Your hair’s cuticle will thank you for your light attention. Comb it out and lastly, let it air dry.
Fresh-faced makeup doesn’t require a ton of steps.
For my summer style guide, it’s all about a fresh, rosy face. Thus, we’re skipping the foundation! The key to having a great makeup look is breathable skin. We’re also skipping last winter’s fleeky eyebrows and growing them babies out. Summer is about being natural, and low maintenance. Mom identity should be iconic and classic. Here’s how to get the look:
- Start with a clean face.
- Apply a dime-sized amount of Vitamin C serum to entire face.
- Next, apply a 1/4 dime-sized amount of coconut oil to your full face.
- Allow the moisturizers to sink into your skin for 2 minutes.
- Make a kissing fish face. Lightly place a little bronzer in the divet made by your checks. Release fish face.
- Then, add a small amount of pink blush to the apples of your checks.
- Apply an ultra-thin stroke of brown eyeliner to your upper lids. (Black eyeliner is too heavy for the summer season.)
- Finally, top your lips with plenty of natural shaded lip gloss.
Your summer style guide should include florals.
For mom’s night out, I’m wearing a simple floral dress. You can choose any color or pattern you like; but for me, my choice always starts with black. Something about the vibrant flowers popping against a black background just does it for me. It’s feminine and eye-pleasing. Next, my shoe of choice, are wedges. I refuse to stomp around in uncomfortable footwear. Wedges are perfect to maintain both style and manageability.
Next, we’ll talk about accessories. It’s clear to see how beautiful these timepieces from JORD really are! I simply love the feel of the bands and they are an elegant way to complete my look. Dress it up. Dress it down. This watch looks great with both your mom’s night outfit, as well as your yoga pants. It’s my ultimate summer style guide staple.
Call your mom tribe. It’s time to go.
In conclusion, to all you mamas out there, I hope you had fun getting ready with me. I’ll try to hop onto Instagram to tell more about my night without littles. Most of all, until we talk next time, I want you to remember that when your hands are full, it’s the best time to live to the fullest.
