Decor and decoration tips for kitchen design

When considering kitchen decor, it’s good to think about functionality. In our kitchen, everything must serve a purpose. Also, we embrace a simple color palette of white, black, and green.

Keeping with this mantra, here are my favorite kitchen decor tips:

  1. Keep the counters clear and clean.
  2. Allow for as much light as possible.
  3. Create one area of interest, such as a wall display or coffee bar.
  4. Keep window treatments simple.
  5. Space appliances evenly around the kitchen.
  6. Larger wall space should house larger prints or decor.

The kitchen is the place I go to sip my coffee. Furthermore, I bask in the presence of house plants and simplicity. It’s nice, especially first thing in the morning.

Because of this, I decided on a print that featured a vibrant bunch of cilantro. I knew it would match my existing potted friends. Having the choice to use my own photography added to the uniqueness of the piece. I was very happy that ordering a custom canvas print would go right along with my home decor mantras.

Installing kitchen wall art

When my canvas arrived, I inspected the piece. The back is flush, with a simple saw-tooth bracket for mounting. I used a small drywall anchor and screw to place my design on the wall.

This canvas uses a single hanging bracket. Installation was less than 5 minutes.

Tips for choosing kitchen wall decor

When deciding on the right wall decor for your home, take a few minutes to sketch out your ideas. You can create drafts of placements and switch out different items. Also, review your ideas a few times before actually committing to a purchase.

Once you have an idea of what you may need, it’s time to figure out the measurements. A good rule of thumb is to allow 3 to 6 inches between items. Try to think proportionately. Thus, the bigger the item, the larger the gap it will need.

Additionally, consider the angles your item will be viewed from. For instance, my canvas will be seen from the front and the side. I selected Canvas Factory’s wrap-around feature for my customized print.
